Center for Anthropogenic Environmental Studies (CAES)
The CAES focuses on better understanding the interaction between society and the environment (terrestrial, atmospheric, marine, and space) in order to improve the quality of life. The overall objectives of CAES are (1) to perform cutting-edge research that involves studies, analyses, experiments, and generation of data and information on anthropogenic environmental impacts; (2) to acquire, manage, flag errors in, and store environmental and societal data and information in user-friendly database management systems; (3) to forecast future environmental impacts due to anthropogenic activity on human health and quality of life; and (4) to develop eco-friendly, sustainable solutions. In addition, another major activity of CAES is to sponsor education courses and training workshops. Initially, the four main areas of foci of the Center’s efforts are energy consumption, water, waste, and agriculture. While the Center will coordinate its research and education with other TI divisions, such as IFAORS, IGS and CDIM, the main focus of CAES remains on developing sustainable solutions for the environment.
