Taksha Gita Institute (TGI)
The Taksha Gita Institute (TGI), a unit of SPRS, seeks to bring together scholarly talent on the literary, historical, cultural, religious, and philosophical dimensions of the Bhagavad Gîtå. Additionally, it will attempt to bring this most important of sacred texts of Asia more into conversation with scholarly specialists of other traditions. It will sponsor courses, study groups, conferences, research, writing, and other such projects that will further a deeper understanding for those who hold the Gîtå dear as a scripture, as well as for those outside the traditions that find great value in the Gîtå, one of the world’s greatest and most influential pieces of literature. And finally, this Institute seeks to bring out the particular values and universal messages that the Gîtå has to offer to a world in troubled times.
